Q: Why would I Need A Cleaning Service?
A: You probably go through your
house everyday and straighten up. Ask
yourself these simple questions: Did
I clean the dust and cobwebs from behind
the bookcase? Did I wipe the dust off
the baseboards and molding? Probably
not, because most homeowners don’t think
about those things when they do a regular
cleaning. To a good cleaning company
these things are part of their regular
routine. So if you hire a cleaning company,
you can rest assure that these spots
and many others will be cleaned. Here
at Kwik Kleen, we offer many schedules
to fit your cleaning needs whether it
be once a month (recommended) or once
a year (this can be costly), we will
work with you to keep your house clean.
Not to mention a clean house is a healthy
house.

Q:
How Can I Remove The Build Up From My Stovetop?
A: Wiping up spills immediately
and cleaning stovetop after each use
tends to prevent grease splatters from
getting baked on the next time the stove
gets heated up when cooking. Baked on
grease can be a particular challenge
on gas stovetops where pilot lights
continue to keep the surface warm and
bake on splatters around burners. For
quick clean up after cooking, use nonabrasive
cleaner or glass cleaner. Proceed with
caution if using cream type cleaners
because some have tiny abrasive particles
in them that can scratch surfaces.
The key to using cleaning products is
to give them time to do their job. Degreasers,
especially, need time to dissolve grease.
There are many degreaser cleaning products
available as well as appliance cleaners
and polishes. The orange concentrate
cleaner is used industrially for degreasing
machinery and concrete. It can be used
full strength or diluted for other cleaning
projects around the house.
Allow degreaser to set 15 minutes before
wiping. If scrubbie is used, it should
be plastic, as well as any scrapers
used. Repeat until all residue has been
removed. Avoid use of abrasive cleaners
and scrubbies. Always apply cleaner
to stovetop with cleaning rag. A wet
rag saturated with cleaner that is placed
on top of more stubborn spots and left
to set will tend to loosen baked on
spills. |

Q:
How Can I Get The Cigarette Smell Out Of My
House?
|
A: If you are reformed smoker
or just moved into a residence that
was owned by a smoker, you want to get
rid of that smell and those nasty yellow
stains from the walls. First let’s work
on removing those stains from the wall.
When it gets humid outside those stains
not only looking ugly but they emit
a low level of odor. The cheapest way
to remove those stains is to use vinegar.
Just add one cup of white vinegar to
cups of warm water, then add a scoop
of baking soda – this will fizz but
it will be easy on your paint. This
process is also very time consuming,
so make sure this is a project you are
ready to tackle. Cleaning your walls
with this mixture does not guarantee
that the stains will come off. It might
take more than one cleaning to accomplish
your goal. Even if you hire a cleaning
service to do this task for you they
still might not get it done with one
cleaning. Which leads us to the second
step: repaint your walls. Now to remove
the smell from the air: Set small bowls
of vinegar, pine-scented cleaner or
activated charcoal around the room.
If your home has young children or pets,
place the bowls well out of reach. Close
off the room overnight. |

Q:
How Do I Remove The Urine Smell From My Bathroom?
A: Urine smell in a bathroom
is possible if only because we urinate
in our bathrooms. However, to save the
day I would suggest a box of soda bicarbonate
in extremely hot water in every drain.
Fill up everything and let her go! Worked
for me when nothing else helped.

Q:
How Can I Keep My Stainless Steel Appliances
From Streaking?
A: For quick clean-ups, clean
with equal parts of water and household
ammonia.
You may also try club soda. It cleans
and polishes at the same time.
You can wax large appliances with car
wax to make them shine and to remove
small scratches.
Instead of using commercial waxes, shine
with rubbing alcohol. |

Q:
Does Vacuuming Everyday Help Or Hurt My Carpet?
A: Carpet wear is mostly caused
by dirt (generally unseen because it
gets down in the fibers). When walked
upon, the dirt granules, no matter how
fine, rub against the carpet fibers,
causing them to fray.
By vacuuming your carpet every day,
you are ensuring a long life for your
carpet, not to mention it's aesthetically
pleasing! |

Q:
How Can I Get The Food Smell Out Of My Microwave?
A: Fill a small bowl with
a 50-50 mixture of water and white
vinegar, then set it in the oven
and turn the oven on high for 5
minutes. When the mixture boils,
it will remove stubborn smells inside
the vents and loosen food particles
on the oven walls.
Wipe down the oven walls with a
clean sponge. |

Q:
I have A Cobweb Problem, What Can I Do?
A: Spiders are where they are
because there is food. If you remove
all webs, but the food remains then
spiders will move back into the area.
While the spider population is lowered
the other insects will increase in their
population. Lots of spiders in an area
mean lots of food in the area. It would
probably be better to learn to make
peace with the spiders as they are helping
keep the bug population down.
1. Use a stick to remove the
web. The size of the stick depends on
the size of the crevices. For example,
if you were cleaning a bicycle, use
a small twig or chopstick. For the ceiling
corners, use a broom.
2. Wrap the stick with something
to grab the web more efficiently. Duct
tape works well with brooms and such
if wrapped with the sticky side facing
out. Toilet paper works adequately for
twigs and smaller devices. Small pine
branches with lots of needles work very
well.
3. Grab with the stick. Simply
use the stick to grab all of the webs
from a comfortable distance.
4. Throw the stick away or, if
it is a broom, rinse it with a hose
when you have finished to get the webs
off. |

Q:
What is WD-40?
| Water Displacement
#40. The product began from a search
for a rust preventative solvent and
degreaser to protect Missile parts.
WD-40 was created in 1953 by three Technicians
at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company.
Its name comes from the project that
was to find a 'water displacement compound.
They were successful with the fortieth
formulation, thus WD-40. The Corvair
Company bought it in bulk to protect
their atlas missile parts. |

How can WD-40 help me clean?
| Ken East (one of the original
founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that
would hurt you...' IT IS MADE FROM FISH OIL'
When you read the 'shower door' part, try it.
It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that
spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it
works just as well as glass. It is a miracle!
Then try it on your stovetop... It is now shinier
than it has ever been before. |
